POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department. An important part of the role will be to act as a liaison between HR and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
  • Assist the HR Manager to ensure that all subcontractors, leases, facilities, or other contracts are up to date and in appropriate form
  • Conduct weekly tours of the premises to ensure all equipment is in good working order, facilities are clean, safe, and functional
  • Maintain accurate records of staff leave requests and sick time; provide this information to HR Manager for accuracy of timesheets and payroll
  • Run background checks for all new hires and independent contractors
  • Manage insurance documents and assist administrative staff with any needed work documents/references (affidavit of work, leave request, etc.)
  • Collect needed documents from new hires and independent contractors (e.g. diplomas, work certificates, patentes)
  • Arrange new expatriate teachers’ temporary lodging upon arrival
  • Assist new expatriate teachers in obtaining all documentation required by the Tunisian authorities, including work permits and cartes de sejour
  • Continually ensure that the teachers’ records are complete and up-to-date
  • Follow-up on all the teachers’ contracts renewals
  • Create and implement effective onboarding plans
  • Liaise with the English Language and Finance departments to ensure that teacher payments are accurate and on time
  • Other duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Human Resources Management or a relevant degree with minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Written and spoken efficiency in English, as well as French and Arabic
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus
  • Team player with good communication skills, i.e. ability to communicate clearly and effectively while maintaining confidentiality and discretion
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work to under time pressure
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to organize/prioritize a variety of tasks
  • Familiarity with procedures, offices, and documents required for obtaining patentes, work permits, cartes de sejour, and other administrative HR paperwork is desirable
