Hotel is looking for Sommelier:
- Greet guests and inquire about their interest in wine with their meal
- Provide complete information regarding wines and their compatibility with menu items
- Have extensive knowledge of wine lists as well as menu items and their preparation
- Assist servers with wine service
- Check back with guests to assure their satisfaction
- Support the management team on the resort wine reception
- Advise when requested the Conference Services and Catering clients about wine
- Keep in contact with wine storeroom to ensure availability and correctness of products
- Meet with purveyors to stay informed of product availability, potential new products, discounts, etc.
- Support the training program in conducting in-service training for staff and inform others of new product
- Entertain a continuous product training for outlet staff
- Revise the wine list on a continual basis
- Make pricing recommendations
- Deplete dead stock wines to keep inventories stable
- Communicate with the Assistant beverage Manager/ Head Mixologist on a daily basis
- Perform server’s duties when scheduled
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Previous significant experience in a related position
- Hotel computer systems and adding machine knowledge
- Specialized training in wines
- Fluent English and French (written, spoken and reading)
- Strong wine knowledge
- Strong commitment to service
