## Description

**Seasonal Interpretive Host**

 

American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) – North Africa American Cemetery, Carthage, Tunis

 

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), which operates and maintains 26 cemeteries and 31 memorials and other commemorative sites in 17 countries, is seeking a Seasonal Interpretive Host to support visitor services at the North Africa American Cemetery in Carthage, Tunis.

The position is temporary and will provide visitor services and interpretive support for approximately three months.

 

**Key Responsibilities**

The Seasonal Interpretive Host will:

 

·         Welcome and greet visitors and provide a friendly and informative first point of contact.

·         Provide visitors with a general orientation to the cemetery, its history, and its significance.

·         Answer visitors’ questions and provide information about the cemetery, memorial, chapel, burial plots, and the Wall of the Missing.

·         Provide directions to specific graves and assist visitors in locating areas of the cemetery.

·         Provide general information about the military campaigns and historical events associated with the cemetery and those commemorated here.

·         Assist individual visitors and groups during their visit.

·         Identify potential next-of-kin visitors and provide appropriate assistance, including helping them locate a specific grave and coordinating enhanced next-of-kin services when appropriate.

 

**Qualifications**

 

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         Experience working with the public, preferably in visitor services, tourism, hospitality, education, or a similar field.

·         Good command of English and fluency in the local language.

·         Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Comfortable speaking to individuals and groups.

·         Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.

·         Knowledge or interest in history, military history, tourism, or cultural heritage is an advantage.

**Contract Details**

Position: Seasonal Interpretive Host

Contract: Temporary / Seasonal –3 months

Work schedule: 40 hours per week

Gross Salary: TND 8,005 for the 3-month period

Location: North Africa American Cemetery, 553 Rue Roosevelt, Carthage, Tunis

Expected start date: Following completion of required security clearance
