Customs & Transit Coordinator

Position Overview

We are a leading Swiss multinational company with operations in Tunisia (Sousse), seeking a motivated Customs & Transit Coordinator to coordinate customs and transit activities through our external customs service provider and ensure efficient import and export operations.

The Customs & Transit Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all customs and transit activities through the company's external customs service provider. The role ensures timely customs clearance of imports and exports, compliance with local and international regulations, accurate documentation, and effective communication between internal stakeholders, logistics partners, and customs authorities through the appointed broker.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and the external customs broker/transit agent.

• Coordinate import, export, and transit customs clearance activities to ensure on-time shipment processing.

• Prepare, review, and provide all required documentation to the customs service provider.

• Monitor customs clearance status and proactively follow up on pending or delayed transactions.

• Ensure compliance with Tunisian customs regulations, international trade requirements, and company policies.

• Coordinate with Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing, Finance, and Warehouse teams regarding customs-related matters.

• Validate customs declarations, duties, taxes, and supporting documents prepared by the external provider.

• Support the resolution of customs issues, disputes, audits, and inspections.

• Maintain accurate customs records and KPI reporting.

• Monitor the performance of the customs broker and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.

• Stay informed of changes in customs regulations and communicate applicable impacts to internal stakeholders.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain Management or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in customs, logistics, freight forwarding, or international trade.

• Strong understanding of customs procedures and import/export regulations.

• Experience coordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government authorities.

• Knowledge of ERP and customs-related software systems.

• Fluency in English and French

• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and external service providers effectively.
