Maintenance & Automation Engineer – Methods & Integrity

Job Purpose:

To develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance methods, automation systems, and asset integrity programs within the LOBP. This role ensures the reliability and availability of plant assets through preventive and predictive maintenance, cost optimization, and CMMS (GMAO) efficiency. It actively supports plant performance improvement via OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) tracking and root cause analysis.

The role also acts as team leader and chief officer during base oil reception (cargo & bulk), coordinating interfaces with marine terminals, customs, and internal stakeholders. Additionally, it drives automation development (SCADA, scripting) and prepares technical specifications for new investments, contributing to the site’s digital transformation.

Principal Accountabilities:

-  Maintenance & Integrity Focus:

-  Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

-  Design and implement asset integrity programs based on company and industry standards.

-  Lead reliability improvement projects and execute RCFA with defined corrective/preventive actions.

-  Ensure HSSE compliance during maintenance through Permit to Work (PTW) management.

-  Maintain and optimize CMMS (SAP PM), including master data accuracy and reporting.

-  Track and improve OEE and other maintenance KPIs.

-  Prepare technical specifications for capex/OPEX projects and vendor selection.

-  Manage cost optimization initiatives in maintenance and automation.

-  Act as plant receiver for technical goods and services.

-  Automation & Digitalization:

-  Develop and maintain SCADA automation scripts and control logic (PLC, HMI).

-  Support troubleshooting of control systems and contribute to digital projects.

-  Train maintenance staff in automation tools and methods.

-  Contribute to the plant's Industry 4.0 roadmap.

-  Base Oil & Bulk Operations (Operational Interface):

-  Act as ship/shore supervisor during base oil reception from cargo vessels and bulk.

-  Coordinate operational logistics with customs, Refinery, terminals, HSSE, and QA.

-  Ensure safety, compliance, and traceability during raw material transfer.

-  Participate in product offloading risk assessments and documentation control.

Profile and Operational skills

-  Education:

-  Engineering degree (Bac+5 or equivalent) in Electromechanics, Automation, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance.

-  Experience:

-  3 to 6 years in a maintenance, reliability, or automation role.

-  Familiar with base oil, bulk liquid handling, or downstream/industrial operations.

-  Technical Skills:

-  Strong command of CMMS (SAP PM preferred) and maintenance planning.

-  Skilled in automation, SCADA systems, and scripting languages.

-  Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and preparation of technical documentation/specs.

-  Knowledge of OEE monitoring, Lean maintenance, and cost-control methods.

-  Certifications/Standards:

-  Familiar with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 (ISO 17025 & 50001 are a plus).

-  PTW systems, MOC (Management of Change), and root cause analysis (RCFA).

-  Digital tools, lean manufacturing, and energy performance.

-  Soft Skills:

-  Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

-  High safety awareness and sense of responsibility.

-  Collaborative, structured, and autonomous.

-  Fluent in French and English.
