Actum Group provides insights on private equity investments in the UK. We uncover the strategic plans for portfolio companies while under private equity ownership. Our in-house network of journalists and financial analysts engage with CEO’s and private equity sources to deliver timely and actionable insights for our subscribers, which include some the largest funds, institutional banks and investors.

Job Description

Actum Group is looking for a Research Analyst to joinits Research team. The team functions on the grounds of knowledge sharing, collaboration, respect and healthy challenges.

The role will be largely dedicated toboth sourcing the aggregated content and researching data points to build the database. The area of focusis the Private Equity universe, and more specificallythe PE firms and their portfolio companies from investment to exit, with a UK angle at first.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable experience in the functioning of the Private Equity sphere.You will be working alongside a team of experts in their fieldand become part of a thriving young company.The analyst will also be expected to collaborate with Actum Group’s Editorial team.

The role would ideally suit a graduate or anyone with an interest in the mechanics of the private equity world.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing Aggregated Content, the crucial starting point of Actum’s workflow:

  • Continuous monitoring of various news sources

  • Ability to recognise the type of transactions covered by Actum, based on set criteria

  • Provide the ultimate prioritisation for the workflow

  • Communicate promptly with the team members for prioritisation adjustments 

  • Researching Data Points and build Data Blocks:

  • Find, interpret and understand publicly available information on Private Equity firms, corporates and related transactions

  • Cross-reference data for certainty of accuracy

  • Collect data points from annual reports

  • Accurately record all data found

  • Quality checking before publication

  • Support the Actum Research and Editorial teams in the product growth

  • Keep on top of the industry trends and evolution

  • Get a sense of how each transaction journey could mature from investment to exit

  • Always keep the aim of Actum’sproduct in mind to capture new opportunities and spot risks

Required skills:

  • Broad understanding of business, finance and the private equity industry

  • Ability to read annual reports and understand broader accounting concepts

  • Ability to understand concepts and universes quickly
